The Navajo people believe this sacred mountain is the center of the universe. In March, I photographed the Milky Way over Agathla Peak or “El Capitan” – south of Monument Valley, Arizona. The peak is an eroded volcanic plug that rises over 1500 feet (457 meters) above the surrounding area. It is 7 miles (11 km) north of Kayenta (providing the glow to the right). – Spaces in my 2014 NightScape Workshops schedule are still available.
