New on 500px : Summer Storm Over Warwickshire by jameshastie by jameshastie

Taken last summer, this is Chesterton windmill close to where I live, I try and get here a few times per year as it’s a unique building and I like to see how the seasons change around it.
This time we had some small storms during the day so I drove here hoping to get some dramatic light. I had to wait 4 hours for this shot, many times I felt it was a waste of time sitting there in the car in the hope I would get this shot but in the distance I could see some breaks in the cloud where the sun would light the ground, so I got set up (I know the place well so I already knew where I would shoot from) and waited for the light to hit the field and windmill whilst still having the dark clouds in the background. It was quite tense guessing the correct exposure with the Big Stopper as the light was changing very quickly which would affect the long exposure but after 1 test shot I had the right settings and caught this. After a few minutes the light went but I was glad I waited and got the shot I wanted.
