I was going to hold off on posting this, but it’s been a tough week for us here in the Pacific Northwest between the tragedy on Mt. Rainier and the events that happened at SPU and this one just spoke to me. Both tragedies hit home for me as I work for the UW and have friends that attend SPU; any tragedy at an academic institution has an impact on me. I also went on my own summit bid to Mt. Rainier two years ago and I can tell you first hand how difficult it is and how much of yourself you leave on that mountain.
This photo was a labor of love to put together the first landscape shot was taken just after sunset, after 9pm and the second was taken at around 4am for the stars. I hand blended the photos in CS6 for dynamic range. It goes to show that even in the darkest of times beauty can be found. RIP to those that lost their lives this week.
