When I awoke at 4:15 a.m., weary and sleep deprived, in my hotel room in Colfax, WA, I seriously questioned my sanity in wanting to pursue any passion that required such bizarre hours as those of a landscape photographer. Luckily, my fellow travelling companions and 500px’ers, Chris Jackson and Jonah Sutherlun, reassured me of our sanity…”A labor of love,” they said.
Upon arriving at Steptoe Butte, my earnest hope for a triple rainbow underneath a rare morning meteor shower quickly went out the door and I realized it was completely up to me to find a unique take on such a popular location. As I prepared for sunrise, I reminded myself how tiny that window is where the sun and the shadows align for the intended shot. This was the result…not perfect, but satisfying nonetheless.
Although I have much further to go as I learn about the world of photography, I’m constantly inspired by others on 500px…Sean, Miles, Nagesh, Tula, Chip, Marc, Alex and more…thank you all for everything you give to the community…inspiration and advice alike!
Best regards,
Sean
