The Mont Saint-Michel is the culmination of the Monts d’Arrée in Brittany (396 m. Due to its small chapel). It is part of an ancient chain of volcanoes. In good weather, there is a magnificent view!
The surrounding landscape has even served as the backdrop to the film “Planet of the Apes”!
The small chapel that overcomes the Mount was built in 1672, on the ruins of an ancient Celtic temple. It is dedicated to St Michael the Archangel, which protects the site of the dragon (perhaps the volcano).
