One morning in Wellington I had a chance to meet Mark Gee who is one of the world’s best Astrophotographers. Last year he won Astrophotographer of the Year and one of his award winning images was taken from Cape Palliser. He was kind enough to give me some tips on how to get to this incredible location and told me that if the sky stays clear it will be an experience I will never forget. I had the entire area to myself and for the first time ever I was able to see the Milky Way with almost no artificial light to interfere. (Minus the lighthouse of course) This is my version of his famous photograph.
This is a panoramic comprising 12 photographs shot portrait with a Carl Zeiss 15mm on a Canon 5D Mark III.
