New on 500px : My Office View by shaneblack by shaneblack

While the hike to this spot was miserable from carrying too much gear, I can’t argue with this view. Really loving my Nemo Galaxi 2P tent!

p.s. I recommend viewing on black!

New on 500px : Contemplating Assiniboine by callumsnape by callumsnape

Its the refreshing pine smell lining the forest, the damp lichen clinging to the branches, the buzz of mosquitoes, the dry heat of the continental divide. All of this attracts me to this pinnacle moment after a 27km hike to the top of Nub Peak.
The aches, the blisters, the strap sores, they don’t matter. What matters is that I’m here in this moment, seeing this with my own eyes. Watching the last sun hit Mount Assiniboine shading the valley and signing off the day… it couldn’t be any more perfect.

New on 500px : The Sunsetter by dennisoswald by dennisoswald

Going to the Great Plains and chase weather is a big adventure, my passion and freedom for me. If I am able to share moments like in this picture above with friends I’m happy.

This tornado had not injured any people and did not any damage.
It was just awesome to watch the cloud motion and the light.

New on 500px : Adventures Tale by Sebastian_Wahlhuetter by Sebastian_Wahlhuetter

When it comes to adventure, for me the key is to be able to adapted to the unexpected. Adventure often implies being on far and remote destinations however in my opinion it is more like a state of mind. Leave your comfort zone and you will find endless opportunities literally around your corner.

This image is already well known to many people. Here are some background infos if you haven’t read it yet:

“This dog just appeared out of nowhere and followed us for an entire week during our trekking trip in the Himalayan outback. He always used to sleep in front of our tent and guarded us in the nights. When I decided to get up at 4 a.m. to climb the next 5000 m peak for sunrise he accompanied me as well. On the top he was sitting for the entire 30 minutes on this place looking straight into the countryside. I’m normally quite reserved towards dogs, but this one became a real friend to me. New on 500px : Old man and his camel by xperimenter by xperimenter

The old man’s name is Sidi and the camel’s name I am not sure about, since I don’t speak Arabic and Sidi didn’t speak other languages. In February 2014 I was travelling in some remote parts of Mauritanian Sahara and came across these two guys 🙂 Sidi was a nomad living there and agreed to take me to the desert for two days to see giant singing dunes. What an epic journey it was! Walking incredible landscapes for many miles without seeing a soul, watching an incredible sunset, sleeping under the starriest sky in the world. In this picture Sidi is carrying a stick he found along the way for our bonfire. Sand dunes there were so huge that the camel was leaning back and forth sliding down the slopes all the time. After a short ride on the camel’s back I realized that it would be much better for both camel and myself if I just walk the rest of the way. But I was not disappointed as it allowed me to take this shot, as well as many other pictures of Sahara.

New on 500px : Camping during the eruption by marcocalandra89 by marcocalandra89

Etna had an another one of its paroxysms. In this event me and my cousin reached the Valle del Bove, a great point to see the eruption of the Southeast Crater.
Initially, we had to seek shelter among the rocks because the wind was too strong, but it doesn’t worked; In fact, after we pitched the tent to get a greater repair but most especially to change the optics in peace.
For this photography I made an exposure for the sky and another for the ground, then I merged them toghether using Photoshop, finally I made some adjusting of contrast, light and shadow.
