Located in a remote corner of death valley national park are ten beehive shaped masonry structures, about 25 feet high and believed to be the best known surviving example of such kilns to be found in the western states. Construction was completed in 1877 and they provided charcoal for smelting needs of nearby silver mines.

180 degree panorama of the Milky Way on a clear night near Estancia, NM. So excited to have stumbled upon this windmill (and the little barn just to the left of it) by accident while out on a photo adventure with friends. The light pollution from the small town is what created the rose colored hues. The hints of green lower to the horizon are from conditions known as airglow.
