Talisker Bay is quite remarkable due to its black sand. The medium sized bay flanked on both sides by steep cliffs and a 100ft waterfall very much looks like the beaches of Iceland. I found a rather large wooden section of a tree that I thought that it would make a great subject to shoot and indeed I believe that it does.

At the end of a life of thousands of years on Europe’s largest icecap, glacial ice chunks spend their final days wrestling with the surf of the cold North Atlantic. It was impressive seeing all the ice chunks lined up on the black sand beach making one final stand against the forces of nature.

They put up a good fight against the never-ending onslaught of waves, but even with Iceland’s colder temperatures, I knew they wouldn’t last long…
