New on 500px : Beautiful New Day!!! by iluvmtns2 by iluvmtns2

Up and headed up to the lake by 4:30 am, this shot taken about 6:00 am, with 33 degrees cold, but so worth the wait and the freezing cold. The lake was very calm, used a 6 stop ND filter to further calm the water and capture this moment of nature’s calm beauty and serenity

New on 500px : Sparks Lake Sunset by ZachBlackwood by ZachBlackwood

I was blessed with epic clouds and great color for sunset on the 4th at Sparks Lake. Photos just don’t do the amazing texture and depth that were in the clouds in person, but this is my attempt at portraying that awe inspiring feel you get in nature.

New on 500px : Dark Was the Day by RyanDyar by RyanDyar

The Painted Hills unit of the John Day Fossils Beds is really one of the more surreal places you can lay your eyes on in Oregon. The striations of different colored clays (which you can see better if you view this on black) create an almost alien landscape that is a dream for us landscape shooters.

This is a photo from higher up above the standard viewpoint, but caution must be taken not to step off trail as to avoid making tracks in the delicate and unspoiled land. This was taken on my 7th trip out to this area where I was finally greeted with the dramatic sunrise light I was after.

Anyways, I recently released a tutorial video that covers some of the techniques I use in my processing (ones that were used in the making of this image). I also lead in-field workshops, teach processing online via Skype screen sharing, and blah blah blah.

Also, I’m happy to announce that I will be co-leading a tour in March with my friend Arild Heitmann! 10 epic days of chasing light across Norway. Mountains, beaches, beaches with mountains, Aurora, long arctic sunrises and sunsets. It’s destined to be the trip of lifetime!

You can check it all out at Ryan Dyar Photography.

New on 500px : School’s Out Forever by JoshKullaPhotography by JoshKullaPhotography

I keep checking over my shoulder for oncoming clouds when I go out to try and shoot the night skies during the spring. But we finally seem to be getting to that part of the year that draws people to Oregon like bees to pollen. I recently was able to revisit one of my favorite old schoolhouses in central Oregon and was rewarded with a vivid view of the Milky Way at its very best.

New on 500px : Thunder Light by skylerhughes by skylerhughes

Last Friday my dog and I headed up the Cascade Lakes Highway during a thunderstorm to catch sunset. It was raining on our drive up, but I have had good luck with thunderstorms in the past. Usually ending in some of the best sunsets I have seen. This was one of them.

The sunset lasted a half hour. It was crazy to have this good of light for thirty minutes. It left a lot of time for me to find a good composition.

After Friday I backpacked into Tumalo and have a lot more photos to share this week. For more of my work visit http://ift.tt/1o0yXkj

Thank you
