An early season monsoon thunderstorm lays down a great lightning strike over the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona.

Not my best effort…ISO was too high, but the lightning had been further out before this bolt exploded nearby.

This last weekend I went to the Chiricahua Mountains for the first time in memory. Playing with a few new light painting techniques we were able to get the rocks to stand out perfectly. That took quite a bit of running around on uneven rocky terrain in the dark, which always makes for a fun adventure. Fortunately, nothing more than a stubbed toe or two were needed to get the lighting just right.
