New on 500px : Overload by AaronMPhoto by AaronMPhoto

After days spent hiking to a number of waterfalls, several breweries, and a few hours stuck in the snow, my 3 day trip to the Columbia River Gorge ended at Proxy Falls.

I arrived early so I could have time to figure out what compositions I wanted. The sun stayed behind the trees and out of the way until just after 10:30am, giving me over 2 hours to shoot with beautiful soft light. Once the sun came out I watched as the classic “light beams” came out. Ultimately I decided not to use those photos because I felt they distracted from the stunning waterfall!

I woke up to a rainy morning near the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon with Alex Noriega and Michael Bollino. Obviously my camera batteries died and it started to rain but Alex was kind and generous to let me use his Nikon to get this shot.

New on 500px : Wildflower Sunrise by raygreenphotography by raygreenphotography

My first time out for Rowena Crest overlooking the mighty Columbia River in Oregon. At 4:00 AM I had the extreme good fortune of seeing my new photog friend Bronwyn pull into the parking lot. My humble thanks go to her for sharing her secret locations and techniques for capturing this amazing scene! Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to view my work, for voting and/or for any constructive comments!

New on 500px : Columbia River Gorge Sunrise by ZackSchnepf by ZackSchnepf

This is 5 exposures blended together using my advanced Photoshop tonality control and multiple exposure blending techniques. I produced a video detailing these techniques, it’s available here: http://www.zschnepf.com Last weekend I was co-teaching a workshop in the Gorge with fellow Photo Cascadia member and good friend David Cobb. We had a great group as usual. We were under a pretty cool, unstable weather pattern with lots of wind and rain, but it set us up for some dramatic conditions. We saw waterfalls, rainbows, paragliders, wildflower fields, incredible gorge views, and some spectacular light. This was our last morning. While I was helping some students set up in some foreground flowers I noticed this scene unfolding. I stepped to the edge of the cliff and fired off a quick bracket series and went back to helping some students. It was a great weekend of photography and adventure. Thanks for commenting! New on 500px : Giving Tree by MajeedBadizadegan by MajeedBadizadegan

website || facebook Don’t be whack, view on black! I enjoyed this sunrise out at Rowena Crest. I could shoot flowers all day. These are wild balsam-root sprout like crazy this time of year. My balhead plate is severely failing, so it took about 5 minutes just to compose/level. This one was a very complicated blend with multiple images stacked for focus and exposure.
