100% BETTER ON BLACK!!!

After a long headache and 2 hours on a twisty road we finally arrived at a beautiful meadow in Mt Laguna. As the sunlight fell we were graced with a beautifully vivid night sky. My friends Dan Douglas, Brian Hawkins and Daniel Tomlinson had a blast sharing stories and setting up multiple axis Timelapse shots. As the 4 hour Timelapses were running I decided to capture this 180 degree panorama.

Since I know you guys love the technical details here they are, this Panorama is 15 vertical images taken with the Canon 6D and Nikon 14-24 F/2.8
EXIF: 20Sec F/2.8 ISO6400

New on 500px : The Edge Of Perception by Shainblum by Shainblum

BEST ON BLACK!

Here is a new photograph from one of my favorite spots in California, Santa Ynez. The rolling hills with giant oak trees makes for some awesome foreground with the Milky Way. The bright spots on the horizon is not the sun setting, but actually the Light Pollution from Los Angeles county. I hope you guys enjoy the photograph.

I teach workshops for photography and timelapse on Skype, click here if you are interested in learning more.

New on 500px : Dreams Along The Coast by Shainblum by Shainblum

PLEASE VIEW ON BLACK!

I shot this photography yesterday on the Mendocino Coastline. Me and my buddy Griffin spontaneously packed up the car at 10pm and took the 3 hour drive on the twisty 1North highway. About 1 hour into the drive we were close to empty on gas and attempted to find a nearby station. After aimlessly searching Google Maps with almost no service, we stopped in to ask the front desk of the only motel in the area. The man at the front desk told us the only gas station open was back 30 minutes the direction we came. If we had kept going we would have been stuck all night with no service in the middle of nowhere.

Long story short, we ended up at the costal trail at about 2am and proceeded to hike down some minor cliffs. Once we hit the beach we were graced with the amazingly vivid Galactic Core over the ocean. I took the panorama out of excitement. I hope you all enjoy it.

(Lots of shadow detail, PLEASE VIEW ON BLACK)

Here is a new image from Delicate Arch in Arches National Park Utah. The park has some incredible rock formations matched with a vivid night sky. Its a simple and very well shot composition, however I really wanted to bring my own take to the shot. I hope you all enjoy the image. 🙂

New on 500px : Fairytale by Shainblum by Shainblum

View on black!

There are few things I enjoy more than shooting a beautiful clear night sky, but when greeted by a dreamlike alien world such as Mono Lake, suddenly the experience is elevated. Here’s a new one, it’s a simple exposure, subtle and dark. I really hope you guys enjoy viewing as much as I did shooting it.

New on 500px : Stardust by Shainblum by Shainblum

Better on black.

This was one of my first Astro panoramas taken from Mount Figueroa outside of Santa Barbara, California. The night was filled with stargazing and astrophotography. It was a night I will remember for the rest of my life. The beautiful bank of fog glistened under the starlight. Shortly after this photo was taken the fog bank rolled higher and engulfed us. Just like that the moment was over.

Thanks for checking it out guys!

New on 500px : Desert Dreams by Shainblum by Shainblum

Better On Black!

After a rainy, cloudy, and stormy day near the Grand Canyon, Toby Harriman and I found a nice spot to camp. After hours of overcast weather we started to see a big opening in the clouds. Guess what it was full of? ….STARS! I took a few shots of the Galaxy, it was a beautiful night.

New on 500px : Rising Up and Over by cowboywithacamera by cowboywithacamera

The milky way is a beautiful in so many ways. To view with the naked eye in a dark sky location it gives you so many stars to see but capturing it with your camera you can pick up those lost colours from our visible spectrum. Now with photography being an art you can change this balance of colours to give a new light to milky way. I love standing out under the night sky and viewing the “haze” of stars and other deep space objects that are above. Letting your eyes adjust to what is out there can make it so much more enjoyable too. Every night while out I figure I see at least one shooting star and get to gaze on the galaxies far beyond. Nothing else compares to the vastness and the life of the night. Animal calls, the mist, reflections and the stars all come together to make for that perfect night. Oh, and a night without bugs bites is even better! LOL 😀 Thanks for viewing and feel free to share. If you would like to see more night skies, wildlife and landscapes from Ontario, Canada feel free to add me to.
