When arriving Dune 45 the main goal is to get to the top, but there is nothing harder then climbing on a sand mountain before sunrise with your full gear array, proceeding 2 steps ahead and 1 step back when sinking because the weight i added on me. I just had to stop and take a shot from this very place you see here. I think it was worth it…

I’ve driven past this dune well over 50 times in all different types of light and I never anticipated it to have such an amazing form. Viewing it from 3000ft in the sky revealed it’s true beauty.

Rubjerg Knude is the name of a huge sand dune of approx. 200ft height located in northern Denmark. In 1900 a lighthouse started its work there, but over the times it was more and more covered by the sand.
People digged out the lighthouse for several times, untill in the late 60s they had to give up: The problem of the ever flying sand was so massive that the lighthouse was stopped.
Since the 90s the dunes are declared as a nature reserve area.
