After days spent hiking to a number of waterfalls, several breweries, and a few hours stuck in the snow, my 3 day trip to the Columbia River Gorge ended at Proxy Falls.

I arrived early so I could have time to figure out what compositions I wanted. The sun stayed behind the trees and out of the way until just after 10:30am, giving me over 2 hours to shoot with beautiful soft light. Once the sun came out I watched as the classic “light beams” came out. Ultimately I decided not to use those photos because I felt they distracted from the stunning waterfall!

“The Creation” – Wahclella Falls/Columbia River Gorge – USA

Today I reached 5000 Fans in Facebook. A view days ago I did a little voting from a selection of my recent USA trip and this photo reached No.1. To say THANK YOU this is my little present to you :-).
Just before noon the sun reached the top of the cliffs and created some heavenly God Rays in the spray of the Waterfall. What here looks like a photomanipulation is absolutely realistic and can be seen with a good timing on a sunny day.

I arrived at Palouse Falls in the far east of Washington State in the afternoon after driving from a cloud encrusted & rainy Mt St Helens.
I then arrived here & thought ohhhh noooo the weather is following me.
But despite the ominous signs not one single drop fell…other than spray that would remarkably make its way up from the gorge below with the wind.
