New on 500px : Winter ice, summer weather in Lake Superior by Yinan by Yinan

Remember how cruel the winter was? For the first time in five years, Lake Superior is even frozen enough for visitors to access the stunning ice caves at Apostle Island.

Though the season has passed, there are still reminders in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula of the historically frigid winter. As we hiked along the lakeshore during the weekend of Memorial Day, we were surprised to see the drift ice lingering on the turquoise water of the Great Lake.
