Pangong Moods
—————————
Its never easy to visit a place every year and come back with distinctly different images. Have put in conscious effort to create different images of Ladakh. This time we stayed at a beautiful village Mann which is the farthest on Pangong Lake with easy access to the pristine lake. I shot many different shots of this lake this time. Here is first in the series. Hope you all like it.

Blue in Between

Tso Moriri Ladakh

This was taken on my last year’s trip to Ladakh. I had seen many images of this majestic lake and wanted to shoot it differently. This lake is mesmerising because of the extreme shades of nature with barren mountains on one side and lush green wetland on the other with pristine blue lake separating the two. The moment I saw this, I knew I had to create a frame. I just did my recce for the right spot and clicked it the moment I found one. Love the frame personally because it has varying shades of nature.

Tsomoriri is a lake in the Changthang (literally: northern plains) area in Jammu and Kashmir. The lake is at an altitude of 4,595 m (15,075 ft). It is the largest of the high altitude lakes in the Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region, entirely within India. The lake sits between Ladakh, India to the North, Tibet to the east, and Zanskar in the west.

New on 500px : Quiet Storm by abhishekpatel by abhishekpatel

Anything after the Rohtang La is one of the most cruel and extreme working conditions for this men who work almost around the clock to keep the lifeline of J&K, ie the NH1 running smoothly, It may seem calm at one point and complete chaos at another instance, It may be a bright Sunny day, at one hour and a snow storm at the other hour.

Leh : Few places in India are at once so traveller friendly and yet so enchanting and hassle-free as mountain framed Leh. Dotted with stupas and crumbling mud-brick houses, and old town is dominated by steep rocky ridge topped by Tibetan-style palace and fort.

New on 500px : Long and Enchanted Lake by Angshu by Angshu

Just about 160 km from Leh is a beautiful lake named the Pangong Tso or Lake in Ladakh. Situated at a height of about 13,900 ft, the name Pangong is a derivative of the Tibetan word Banggong Co meaning “long, narrow, enchanted lake”. One third of the lake is in India while the remaining two thirds lies in Tibet, which is controlled by China. Majority of the streams which fill the lake are located on the Tibetan side. Pangong Tso is about five hours drive from Leh in Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir. The route passes through beautiful Ladakh countryside, over Chang La, the third highest motorable mountain pass (5289 m) in the world.
