New on 500px : Blooming Dreams by cwexplorationphotography by cwexplorationphotography

It’s hard to pick a favorite image, but I think that this is up there for me. This is the image that I’ve been longing for since I started photography about two years ago. Mt. Rainier and wildflowers go hand in hand and to be able to finally photograph them, together is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. This was taken in early morning light on Sun Top lookout at 7,500 ft near HWY 410. Thanks a ton to my girlfriend’s dad for finding this really cool location. This image wouldn’t have been possible without his insight. This is what I hope to be the first of several wildflower images from the mountains this summer!

New on 500px : Something Fierce by DustinGent by DustinGent

Discovered some more files I hadn’t done anything with. Wildflowers will be in full swing in a few short weeks. Fractured shoulder be damned, I will find a way to get into the backcountry to shoot new areas 🙂

Upon opening the files from the 1Ds, I realized what a ^$&ing dust magnet it was. If there is an action in photoshop to remove 1.3K dust bunnies from files, I’m all ears. I actually bracketed for this comp, which helps because the files fall apart rather easily.

Anyways, expecting to get light like this again in fields of pristine flowers, as far as the eye can see and no mosquitoes. 🙂 I’m working on a new website that will have some new stuff on there, incase anyone cares 🙂

New on 500px : Nature’s Subtleties by cwexplorationphotography by cwexplorationphotography

This past weekend my gf’s dad was kind enough to show me some areas I hadn’t seen near Mt. Rainier. This image comes from an unmarked forest road near Sun Top lookout on HWY 410 by Mt. Rainier. I bushwhacked through a stand of old Alder trees and stumbled across a single patch of these bright pink and blue flowers. I had never seen anything like this in the high country before and it was the only patch of flowers like this in the area. I went off to scout the area for some more meadows and such but I couldn’t get this image out of my head, so I decided to come back and photograph this area.

This is 8 images focus stacked and 2 for dynamic range. These flowers were extremely tiny and I was essentially down on the ground trying to photograph them, lots of fun!

New on 500px : Rainier Cloud Cap by orionsector by orionsector

One of those rare cloud formations forming over Mt. Rainier. This only seems to happen once every few years or so, and not usually this dramatic. This image was taken from Auburn, Washington.

It’s been a long time since I posted an image of a mountain (that will be changing soon) so hopefully this will tide some folks over until the summer melt picks up speed this was taken this past October as the winter Milky Way rose over Mt. Rainier seen from Tipsoo Lake on Chinook Pass. I posted a shot from here last year, but it was pretty noisy, I’ve treated this one with a few tricks I’ve picked up over the past year to produce a cleaner image. Any who hope you enjoy it!

New on 500px : Weather The Storm by RyanDyar by RyanDyar

This one looks ok on black or white… so I won’t preach to you this this time. Well, I finally found some spare time to finish my processing video… I’m new to the whole video editing thing, so it took my feeble mind quite a while to figure out the most simple things. I’m happy with how it turned out. I’m not the most graceful of wordsmiths, but I think I was able to explain things well enough! Many of the techniques I show in the video were used in this shot. So if you’d be interested in checking it out head over to http://ift.tt/HjSx9r and check it out. There’s also other stuff, you should check that out as well.
