I was actually in the OBX for a landscape photography workshop which was coming ot a close on this morning. I love the balance, and depth of this image and also the serenity and storm. There’s just a very interesting mix of elements going on. Technically, this is a 65 second long exposure taken using a 10-stop B+W nd filter with my D800 and a Nikon 24-70. Hope you enjoy! Looking forward to posting more from this trip soon.

I received a very warm welcome my first evening in Hanalei, a sunset that seemed to keep getting better and better for over an hour.

The day was very overcast, essentially blanket white cloud in all directions. Ordinarily I wouldn’t shoot in those conditions – I tend to prefer blue skies with white clouds streaking across the side – but i’m glad I did, certainly provides a more subtle effect that a ‘traditional’ Long Exposure. White skies shall deter me no more!
