I’m dedicating this one to someone I love dearly, her birthday is today. I have watched her body slowly betray her. I have felt the darkness slowly closing in. I’ve seen fleeting moments of fear and hopelessness.
But I’ve also been witness to an incredible display of bravery, tenacity and hardiness. The stubborn refusal to allow the hopelessness to take over. The light inside her has always stayed bright, despite adverse circumstances. This one is for her.

This is a scene that happened over Sparks Lake in Oregon. A long single lenticular cloud started to disperse right at sunset to create an array of stunning cloud structures. The side light from sunset brought incredible definition and depth to the sky. Had the sun set an hour earlier, this display wouldn’t have been nearly as good.
