On the last night of our whirlwind photo trip we were treated to a pretty decent sunset at Horseshoe Bend. Now I won’t lie, I coaxed a lot of color out of this shot. The dynamic range was pretty crazy so I blended 3 exposures in Photoshop to achieve this shot. Either way, I hope you guys like it.

A beautiful sunrise at Schwabachers Landing located in the Grand Teton National Park. You can see the distant Grand Teton range reflecting in the snake river. Distant smoke and fog line the base of the mountains. The aspens are in peak color as well as the warm sage and brush lining the river.

A winter sunrise at Deadhorse Point, about 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, with the sun glowing on the distant background which is the cliffs of Canyonlands National Park.

Legend tells of horse being corralled atop the cliffs at this prominent point, high above the valley floor. As time went by some horses were left corralled without water, resulting in their deaths; thereby the site inherited the name Deadhorse Point.

Painted Hills, Oregon + Great Ocean Road, Victoria Some random points about this image: – It is a composite – The landscape was taken as a night shot with the EXIF settings you see but pre-dawn with far fewer stars which were a random assortment and not the milky way. – The milky way night sky you see is from the Southern hemisphere where I believe we get a much better deal in terms of milky way visibility! – The merge is a composite that uses many masking techniques (some of which are complex but unfortunately none of which I have made a video out of to sell!) All of this makes it ‘unreal’ as the title suggests but perhaps quite a pretty picture? I’ll leave that for you to decide !
