One of my favorite lakes… whenever I see this shot in my archives, it makes me itch to get back into the High Sierra backcountry. Just a few more weeks!
This is a panoramic stitch from five ultrawide (17mm) frames. The scene is HUGE. Well into the backcountry of Sequoia National Park, no trail will take you here.

Generals Highway, Sequoia National Park, Ca.

Recently my wife and I ventured up to Sequoia National Park expecting Spring like conditions – which is what we got when we got there. But we didn’t expect to wake up to a foot of snow the next day.

A late seasonal storm brought in two days of snow for me to shoot in. I gotta say, I’ve never shot Sequoia in the snow and it made it much more dramatic for me. I loved it.

Above you’ll find a spot I picked out along the Generals Highway that had these monstrous Sequoias alongside the road. I set up and waited for a car to pass to show the contrast in size. Ironically a Mini Cooper passed by. Perfect!
