There’s something wonderful about wandering the ancient streets of Kyoto at night.
This was shot during my last visit to Japan. The big festival in Kyoto had finished the previous night, leaving the typically crowded streets empty and perfect for photography.

“With seemingly endless arcades of vermilion torii (shrine gates) spread across a thickly wooded mountain, this vast shrine complex is a world unto its own. It is, quite simply, one of the most impressive and memorable sights in all of Kyoto.
The shrine was dedicated to the gods of rice and sake by the Hata family in the 8th century. As the role of agriculture diminished, deities were enrolled to ensure prosperity in business. Nowadays, the shrine is one of Japan’s most popular, and is the head shrine for some 40,000 Inari shrines scattered the length and breadth of the country.”

It’s located on the slopes of the volcano Gunung Batukau and it’ is surrounded by green forest.
This is definitely one of the most mystical temples of Bali.
It has a “meru” (Hindu shrine) with seven roofs dedicated to Maha Dewa, the goddess of the mountain, and it has altars dedicated to the lakes Bratan, Buyan and Tamblingan.
Visiting this temple is a pleasure because it is rarely visited by tourists.
The only sounds you can hear are the songs of birds and the litany of priests.
