New on 500px : Sierra Sky by nevadax1 by nevadax1

The Sierra Nevada Mountains run for about 400 miles in western California with part in Nevada. In summer, the wildflowers are blooming in July at the higher elevations. I was lucky to witness this beautiful sunset a few days ago. I hope you like it too! Thanks for looking.

PLEASE VIEW ON BLACK!

To be amongst some of the oldest living trees in the world is quite a unique experience. My night at Patriarch Grove in particular was unforgettable. The moonless sky was like nothing I had ever seen before, and the beautiful white rock reflected all of the star glow. This glow provided natural ambient light for not only the photographs, but also to help us see where we were going without LED headlamps. The green cast you are seeing in the sky is called “airglow” and it is natural to the photograph. I was able to take this photograph with one exposure and some post processing, although I did not light up the tree or do any exposure blending. This is one RAW frame with color correction, contrast, noise reduction, and selective dodging and burning. Words can not express how beautiful the sky was up in the White Mountains of California, however, I hope this photograph does some justice to what I saw there that night.

New on 500px : Light in Nature creates the movement of colors… by FerPecT_sHotz by FerPecT_sHotz

– Robert Delaunay. | facebook | flickr | ferpectshotz | Emerald Bay, South Lake Tahoe is one of the most famous view points along coast and is also quite easy to get to. We reached here for a sunrise shot so the weather was pretty chilly and we realized that to get the best shot we need to actually cross the stream as the clearing between the two falls provided the best view. It was a bit scary to wade through the ice cold stream wearing sandals but it was fun and we reached the clearing and from the beginning I wanted to include the tree to the left in the frame and use a more normal focal length than the usual Wide Angle, so I used Nikkor 18-35 in portrait mode at 35mm and combined 3 shots to get the view.
