We had driven down to the Remarkable Caves for sunset however it was looking very overcast and not much chance of seeing anything so we started driving back when in the rear vision mirror I saw a reddish tinge starting to appear in the sky. We quickly pulled over and headed to the Cape du Couedic light house and managed to capture a couple of handheld shots with the thin thread of red across the bottom of the sky.

A messy evening, messy sodden images but the only thing I’m happy with this image is that it shows things were pretty wild! I had this idea in my head that in my waterproofs and with the camera and remote wrapped , I could fire shots and blend them later. Several buffets of wind while sitting and several dumps of waves later, I realised that I wasn’t going to be able to keep the whole setup still to have the images lined up. And then that faint light disappeared and so did I – to get all nice and warm back in our accommodation in Normanville!
( I half thought about getting myself into the frame to do the mickey mouse fantasia tribute but decided against losing my gear 😛 )

A wintry sunset at Lake Barmera taken in 2013. At the time, Charlotte was on my back calling for mummy to come over. I did want to get lower to catch more of the reflection but in the end, Charlie won and I left this long exposure going while walking over to mummy taking her shot of the scene. VEEFcakes FTW.
